Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
No, Communicative Minds currently only accepts private pay clients at this time.
What ages do you serve?
Communicative Minds sees adults ages 18 or older for in-home speech therapy and/or assistive technology services.
School-based contract speech therapy and/or assistive technology services range from early childhood to transition-aged students.
What is your approach to therapy?
At Communicative Minds, I prioritize a neurodiversity-affirming approach to speech therapy. I believe that every individual’s communication journey is unique and deserves respect, understanding, and empowerment. By creating a safe, supportive environment, I focus on honoring each person’s lived experiences, strengths, and preferences.
My methods emphasize collaboration, emotional safety, and strategies that celebrate neurodivergent ways of thinking and interacting. Whether building skills, exploring assistive technology, or fostering self-advocacy, I will work alongside you to nurture authentic and meaningful communication.
How do I know if you're the right speech therapist for me?
The foundation of my services is collaboration. I believe the best outcomes come from working together to create a plan that aligns with your unique strengths, needs, and goals. To ensure we’re the right fit, I offer a free 15-minute consultation via phone or Google Meet. This gives us an opportunity to connect, discuss your goals, and explore how we might work together. If we find that our goals don’t align, I’m happy to provide referrals to help you find the right support for your journey.
What are your qualifications/background?
I’ve been an SLP for over 18 years working with children ages 3-22 in the school setting. I have focused on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and assistive technology throughout my entire career. I am excited about the potential that technology has to assist with communication and executive function.
In addition to being an Illinois-licensed SLP, I hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. I have undergone countless hours of training in AAC, Assistive Technology, and Neurodiversity-Affirming practices.
